A glass of a couple of names – lowball and rock most notably – it is a very popular cocktail glass used to serve spirits neat or 'on the rocks'. The glass is a short and wide bowl, with no stem or handle, and should have a thick base to allow for safe muddling of ingredients inside the bowl itself. Cocktails that should be made in a rocks glass are ones like its namesake, the Old Fashioned, who liquor content outweighs any mixers. With that being said, the popularity of the glass within the cocktail scene has seen it used for almost any type of recipe.
